Activity/Recreation Aide Services

Sterling offers Activity/Recreational Aide Services that includes Activity/Recreation Coordinators and Activity Aides who are fully trained in a recognized diploma program with as a Coordinator or an Activity Aide.

Our Activity/Recreation Aides enrich the quality of life of residents in the care home by their ability to assess each resident’s activity needs and assist them in developing individualized recreation/activity programs to ensure that the physical, social, emotional, intellectual, spiritual, and cultural needs and interests of the resident are met. Activities are designed to reduce boredom and to increase a sense of happiness, wellbeing and community for the resident.

All programs are offered in a group and/or a personal/private setting.  Activity Aides publish a monthly calendar of planned activities, a monthly newsletter to families and residents, and organize outings, arrange transportation and special entertainment and performers on a monthly basis. They also arrange and organize volunteers to assist with events and carry out personal visits. Activity staff often run a tuck shop, happy hour, and organize a Resident and Family Council to plan and assess activities monthly.
